New Year ๐ 4 FOs ๐ 4 WIPs ๐ 1 New CO!
Happy belated New Year, friends!
This is what a lot of my new year looked like - Shane, Laura & I climbing on things here in Porto!
I hope you had a restful, joyful holiday break ๐
โฆ because what in the actual fucking shithole hellscape has the first 8 fucking days of 2026 brought?! FUCK! Every day a fresh and compounding hell.
ANYWAY! KNITTING! FUCK!
My break included a TON of knitting! I got so much done and so much finished! I canโt wait to show you!
Hey, itโs WIP day!
Every other Thursday I take a look at what my WIP pile looked like two weeks ago and what it looks like today!
But this was my abbreviated WIP pile from December 18thโฆ
THIS was a pic of some abandoned projects from earlier in December!
And this doesnโt even include my Titanic Sweater, Brutalista Socks, AND my freaking Gro Hat that Iโve never shared! Which means that on Dec 18th when I was freaking out about 6 WIPs being too many, I actually had 7!
But I am SO happy to have finished up 4 of those 7 projects (and CO 1 new one!)
FO #1: Twinkle Sweater!
FINALLY! Those sleeves almost killed me (and you might notice theyโre a little bracelet length!) but I LOVE how this sweater turned out. Love my colors! Love the fit. Love how croppy and cute she is! Love love love!
FO #2: Ooey Gooey Socks!
Felt VERY silly when I finally went back to pick these up and there was only like 2 hrs of knitting left to do on them! Feels good to have a very silly new pair of socks and have been wearing them! They really bring a smile to my face haha
FO #3: Gro Hat!
This was a very fun knit along with the class I taught in December. LOTS of modification was needed to get it to turn out like this, and I felt like I was learning right along with the class! It was very fun and will start a tradition of always doing a little fun accessory classes in December.
FO #4: Comebackigan!
This one sat in the WIP pile with 1/3 of a button band, 1 armpit, and 1 pocket to sew on for about a month. Iโm SO glad I finished this one up because I have been wearing it constantly! The climate in Porto is going to be very cardigan friendly and Iโm so happy to have this one in my rotation!
Iโll be teaching this one in March if youโre bing #influenced! Keep an eye out!
And today my WIP pile looks like this!
Made progress on my Rosie Sweater, Actually did make some progress on my second Brutalista Sock, CO my Flannel Crush Cowl*, and am completely rethinking my Titanic Sweater so that might be a frog.
Rosie! Love it! Hoping to get a ton cranked on this sleeve ahead of class #2 this weekend. I want to wear this sweater! Itโs so pretty!
Brutalista Socks! Been keeping these in my bag as Iโve been bopping around and Iโve knit like 3โ on sock 2 while out and about! Iโll keep that up and hopefully finish these soon - I LOVE them and want to wear them!
Titanic Doodle Sweater: Iโm REALLY second guessing now my striped sections with the Titanic China pattern, so Iโm thinking Iโll rip out that last stripe and rethink the doodles so that itโs all navy background with no stripe breaks. BUT! Thatโs LOW on the priority list!
*AND I kicked off my Flannel Crush Cowl Knit Along at LauraAllyson.Party on January 1st as part of our Mosaic KAL to kick off 2025 and Iโm loving it! Iโve got to be glued to the pattern, but thatโs ok. Itโs nice to have a little something all consuming right now!
WHEW what a marathon! Now that my visitors are all gone - Shane left Sunday and Laura left yesterday - itโs just me and the animals until mid February so expect a LOT of knitting to keep coming!
PS - been getting a lot of nice messages from people wondering about Shane! His surgery to remove his kidney cancer is this morning! So far the patient is in great hands and good spirits. Iโll be sure to update everyone next week!
