I’m Allyson!
I have been teaching knitting since 2003 and have taken my extensive in person teaching skills into your living room! From choosing your materials to adding any finishing touches, I will help you create a project you love!
More About Me
I am a knitting teacher and knitwear designer originally from Michigan, and after living in Chicago for over 20 years recently moved to Porto, Portugal! I teach virtual knitting classes and hosts knitting retreats and events at allysondykhuizen.com. I manage a social networking site with Laura McDougal called LauraAllyson.Party.
I really love baseball, my dog Royal Tenenbaum, my cats Roosevelt and Lord Bullingdon, and having a bev on the porch! This is a pic of me and Royal on our back porch in Chicago.
It feels like a lifetime ago, but my book Midwestern Knits was published in 2015. And my Craftsy class, published in 2018, is included in The Great Courses Knitting 101.

Yes! Each class is recorded and emailed out within an hour of the end of the class. The class is live on the Allyson’s class cloud for 60 days, but you can download each class to your device and keep them for as long as you need.

You will receive a welcome email within 48 hours of your sign up with more information.

Yes! A bonus materials focused class will be scheduled 1 month before your class starts to help you talk through your yarn choices. If you sign up for a class after this bonus class takes place the link to the recording will be sent to you!

You’ll get an email 1 week before your class starts with any pre-class homework you’ll need to complete. You’ll then get your zoom link and pattern information 1-2 days before your class starts.

Cancellations more than 3 weeks before the start of class will receive a full refund minus a 10% administration fee.
Cancellations between 1-3 weeks before the start of class will receive 50% refund.
Cancellations made less than 1 week before the start of class will not be refunded.
